What Will the New Year Bring?

As the glow of the holidays fades, a new year can bring sudden shifts to the real estate market. In January 2013, it felt like the renewal of the real estate market happened all at once! This year, I’m curious to see how inventory is affected by the start of the selling season and a potential end in sight to the pandemic. Portland inventory was already limited prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, but the increasingly low rates and steadily shrinking inventory made buying a home in 2020 a very competitive prospect. As 2021 accumulates data – and as I start showing more and more houses – I’ll be keeping an eye on inventory levels and use that information to advise buyers accordingly!
